BC2 Server and Connection Issues

According to sources, the last few days of connection issues is because BC2 for PC has outsold BOTH consoles, which was unexpected. The crashes are due to new servers going on line....Read below

BC2 PC currently has more players then either console (indivdually - not collectively).

EA announced that they are putting up new servers to help with the server browser connections, loss of connection to the EA account server and crashing problems. They are confident that this will fix a lot of issues. They've also apparently asked GSP's to temporarily suspend installing new BC2 servers until EA's new servers are online. They apparently underestimated the number of PC servers that would be put up.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 has managed to prove so popular that yesterday the concurrent users in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 surpassed that in Battlefield 2 which has been going strong for almost 5 years.

Bad Company 2 PC Beta on January 28th?
Forum Planet member, jasndjkcnsadc brought to our attention that Gamestop has listed the Bad Company 2 PC beta as starting on January 28th. This is not confirmed, although a similar situation happened with the Playstation 3 beta and it ended up being correct.

Bad Company 2 PC Beta Pushed to Early Next Year
Battlefield:Bad Company 2
This should come as no surprise to any PC gamer as we are used to being shit on by the gaming manufacturer's - Combat Medic

Bad Company 2 PC Beta Pushed to Early Next Year

DICE producer, Gordon Van Dyke made a post on the Battlefield blog talking about the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Unfortunately the beta has been delayed from December to early next year to give DICE more time to increase the PC beta capacity.
Hey all,

We wanted to update you, and slow the flood of tweets, on questions surrounding the BFBC2 PC Beta being cancelled. I'll get right to it and say "the BFBC2 PC Beta is not cancelled". Now this all started due to changes made to an earlier blog that removed the PC Beta from the details and the reason for this was the plan changed. With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta's capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate. Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.

Here is a recap of the current PC features, and we can now confirm DX11 support with more details to come later!

PC Enhanced Features
  • Up to 32 Players on PC (24 on consoles) - Play with up to 32 players online in the biggest multiplayer Maps in Battlefield. Each with a different tactical and gameplay focus set across a variety of environments.
  • Full DirectX 9, 10 & 11 Support - Immerse yourself in the Battlefield world as Frostbite engine brings tanks, planes, and explosions to vivid life on your PC. The game will fully support Windows XP, Vista, and 7 with new tech that further improves things like lighting and shadows.
  • Enhanced Gameplay - The PC version also includes wide peripheral support like Joysticks for flying, NVDIA 3D Vision, Logitech LCD Keyboards and VoIP Support plus a variety of specific features tailored for PC play.
  • Friend Support - Find your friends online with the new buddy list to see if and who is online so you can quickly join their game.
  • Dedicated Ranked Server - Everyone gets non-stop action with no connection penalties based on some other player's internet. Ranked Server Provider program will give players opportunity to rent their own server(s) located in professional grade datacenters, ability to modify settings like map rotation, create reserved slots for friends or clan members, kick & Ban players, and custom name your ranked server.
  • Clan Support & Private Servers - Independent Clan Tag, and ability to rent servers for hosting and controlling private password protected competitive servers with expanded control over the settings from public ranked servers.
  • PC Squad Play System - Updated from previous Battlefield PC titles now gives control of your squad before heading into combat.

DICE: Bad Company 2 PC Gets A "Little Bit More"

DICE has assured fans that the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be tailored to the platform.

The first Bad Company game never made it to the PC and developer DICE is keen to stress that the PC release of Bad Company 2 will not simply be a port.

Speaking to IncGamers, DICE’s Gordon Van Dyke stressed that each version of the game is being “tweaked and adjusted” to suit the platform.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2“On the PC, it's a PC version, which is getting that same treatment, and then also a little bit more as PC users are generally used to a different type of experience than console users are, and we recognise that and we want to make sure that we give that to the PC market and give the console market more,” said Van Dyke.

When pressed on whether the PC version will include modding tools, Van Dyke stated that while the situation is “really, really complicated” due to the game engine being in its infancy, he did offer some hope for the modding community.

“Once we start getting there and the engine gets to a level where we can release tools that are easy for our own guys to use, and then easy for people publicly, then we'll get into that and we'll really start to focus on it,” he revealed.

“But it's definitely not something that we're like, ‘oh, we won't do that.’”

More good news for PC fans came when Van Dyke that, as well as launching a beta for the PS3, a PC beta will also go ahead.

“We're also going to have a PC beta, and we'll announce more details on that at a later date,” he said.
